My Mothers Window Treatments
When it comes to window treatments, my mother is one of a kind. Imagine, she always change curtains twice a month. She replaces it with valences or another set of curtains. Even though she does it twice a month, it will take at least six months before the set will be repeated again. The best thing is that her motifs go well with the prevailing season. If it is summer, she makes sure that harmful light will not enter but the ventilation is kept well. During the winter, she uses window treatment that prevents the cold air to permeate into the house. Flowery designs of valences every fall and light colored curtains every rainy season is what she applies through out the year.
From the bedroom, to living room, kitchen and even the bathroom, her majestic work of the window is absolutely wonderful. Her choice of the design goes well with the season. I think she considers many factors in choosing certain curtains or valences.
Although she spends a lot of money in buying, repairing or tailoring curtains, valences and other window treatment ideas, the results is more evident and that is very important. Our house is very vibrant, lively and wonderful to live with her ideas in treating the windows. I guess it is her passion to make the house a place to live and to be called home.
